Process of Traveling
Traveling with RD Staffing is a simple process. All members of the RD Staffing team are readily available to assist you, should you need help. Please read on to learn what the step-by-step process.

Step #1

Complete an application. You can apply online at request an application by email at or give our office a call at 888-402-2734 to request an application by mail or fax.

Step #2

Once you’ve completed your application a recruitment specialist will contact you to discuss your interests and availability. The questions they will ask you include:
  • What is your specialty?
  • What licenses do you hold?
  • What certifications do you hold?
  • How many years of experience do you have?
  • What locations would you like to travel to?
  • How soon are you looking to travel?
  • What kind of benefits are you looking for?
  • Will you be traveling with family and/or pets?
Your recruitment specialist will then discuss your available assignment options. To be submitted to any assignment, we will need a completed application, employment history and/or resume, skills checklist, copies of any credentials, copy of driver’s license, social security card and a completed background check authorization form. Feel free to include letters of recommendation or any other documents you wish to send to further distinguish yourself.

Once your file has been verified, your file will go to a Hospital Coordinator who will review the complete file and gain approval. If any port ion of your file is not included the file will be returned to your recruiter and you will be asked to provide the missing information with 24-48 hours. If your file is incomplete you’ve lost precious time in getting the assignment you desire so please ensure you provide a complete file.

Step #3

During the time you are discussing your travel nursing assignment options your file will be submitted to our Human Resources department. They will verify your information and ensure that the file is complete. A complete file will include:
  • Application with completed employment history and/or resume
  • Skills checklists
  • I—9 form
  • W-4 form
  • Payroll disbursement form
  • Completed OSHA, HIPPA and JCHACO forms
  • Current physical or physician’s statement within previous 12 months
  • Hepatitis B documentation (vaccination series of three, titer, booster or signed declination)
  • TB screen within 12 months or chest x-ray current within two years
  • Proof of immunity to Rubeola, Rubella and Mumps (positive titer or one official physician-signed MMR)
  • Proof of immunity to Varicella (positive titer or Varivax inoculation)
  • Tetanus within 10 years, or signed declination
  • Clear copies of all current nursing licenses and professional certifications
  • Clear copy of front and back of a current American Heart Association Provider BLS card preferred.
  • Copies of additional resuscitation credentials including ACLS, ENPC, NRP, PALS, TNCC
  • Proof of eligibility to work in the U.S. (i.e. copy of a social security card and driver’s license or passport)
If any port ion of your file is not included the file will be returned to your recruitment specialist and you will be asked to provide the missing information with 24-48 hours. At that time, we will include a letter along with copies of any missing paperwork along with a chain of custody for your drug screen. The drug screen is no cost to you. Once you have completed a drug screen and turned in any missing paperwork, you will be cleared to work.

Step #4

Once you have been confirmed by the hospital and cleared to work, your recruitment specialist will send you a hospital orientation manual to bring with you your first day, contracts, timesheets, and directions from your home to the apartment and/or hospital.

Step #5

You are on your way to your travel assignment! Expect a call from your recruiter once you’ve arrived. Your recruiter will ask about trip and accommodations, remind you about how to complete and submit your time sheets. You can expect a call from your recruiter to check in and ensure that you are satisfied with your experience with RD Staffing.
